Namsag, thanks for the advice, I'll check your recommendations out. By the way, I never paid the full price, £200 on Ebay. However it has had £200 worth of parts thrown at it since i installed it (not that I paid £200 though) Pete
I have had trouble with my fire for some time - not staying lit.
I originally changed the thermocouple - still the same.
Then I changed the Electro magnet which the thermocouple connects to - still the same.
Then I contacted baxi technical who said it was the Control Box - I changed it over and it was still the same, but playing around with the thermocouple again I got the fire to work after several attempts each time.
I then put the old control box back in and I could get the fire to stay lit after several attempts.
I am now going back to my original thought which is a new thermocouple - you can sometimes get a bad one.
So I have a brand new control box if you are interested as I am in Cardiff. I was quoted £85 to £150 for the damn thing, in the end I got a mate to use his discount and I managed to buy for £75 but I am stuck with it and is now surplus to use.
Hey Pete did you ever get this fire sorted? I am looking again at changing ours but we are having problems and i wondered whether to give replacing the control box another go.
cheers
Shaun

Do yourself a favour and don't waste any more money on this fire. At the moment I need a new transformer. It ran for a while but now no power. I hate the thing!
A previous poster pointed out that power flue fires can be draughty when OFF. absolutely correct, and damned annoying. Balanced flue fires, although more efficient, suffer from glass discoloration - and wives hate them. If you're in the market, look at PARAGON fires. as an optional extra, there power flue fires have a "heatsaver", essentially a flap that closes solid when fan is off. You're unlikely to find one for sale via the internet, but find a showroom.:
