BBC Chairman Richard Sharp resigns

Did he? Not that I've seen suggested.
I repeat, all I've seen is that he supplied a name. I wouldn't say that's enough of a conflict of interest.

IF he did more than that, then it's clear cut. Did he though?

Still waiting for a link!

"Causing too much trouble" is a bit feeble as a reason to resign, but it does look that way.
From the report...

  1. "2.1 Mr Sharp informed the former Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson MP) that he wished to apply to be Chair of the BBC Board, before he made his application in November 2020.
2.2Mr Sharp also informed the former Prime Minister, before he was interviewed, that he was going to meet the Cabinet Secretary so as to attempt to introduce to him a person who had made a suggestion that he might assist the former Prime Minister with his personal finances."

This won't satisfy you, because your mind seems made up.

The Cabinet Secretary being Simon Case, who can't remember any details of the meeting.

Lock Simon Case in a room with Dominic Raab for fifteen minutes, that might jog his memory. ;)

The labour spokes person on this caper

Stated that it had done major damage or untold damage (?) to the BBC ?? :ROFLMAO:

What a load of baloney

Said spokes person ( fruit cake) needs to get a grip

Very few look at ethics and morals these days, unless it's to pass a college exam.
So you agree it was nothing about Tories are evil and Labour will save all our problems then? Just an ethics and morals issue, not political.

He actually seems to have been well regarded from what people have said today.
He does come across as a sort of clubbable old boy network character, but the bbc has lurched from crisis to crisis under his remit. Time after time reports commissioned into cabinet ministers and the like talk about the perception of conflict of interest, that there was no intentional wrongdoing. He should have declared an interest, and the fact that he didn't was wrong. He had the decency to go quickly and seems to be keeping schtum, so far play to him for that.

Blup

I was labour until JC ruined the party. I’d rather vote for green peace now.
