Seems pretty obvious to me that the fella is trying to avoid inheritance tax and the state taking its "fair" share of her estate. "Repugnant" may be somewhat harsh.

Well he managed to spend almost £50k of her money fighting to not pay £29k in her care home fees whilst appropriating £120k in expenses for himself.

Oh hold on a minute - he's an independent financial consultant, he probably mis-sold everything to himself.
