I always find the Star Spangled Banner very rousing. The fact it gets such widespread respect is even better.
Maybe you should read all the wordsI’ve not read the full words because only the first part/verse is ever sung and which is pretty unobjectionable. The point of the NA is to reflect and promote a sense of patriotism and positive national identity.
They were replaced by a new elite led by that well known empire builder NapoleanThe French had the right approach when it came to getting rid of their sponging/despotic royals!
You ought to.I’ve not read the full words
And not inspiring or accomodatingbecause only the first part/verse is ever sung and which is pretty unobjectionable.
Ours doesn't do that. You should be in a stadium in the USA when theirs is sung (even badly). Theirs achieves that aim .The point of the NA is to reflect and promote a sense of patriotism and positive national identity.
Nothing woke about not being inspired by the Royals, which is all the NA is.Below is a woke alternative I have written, which excludes all reference to religion, respect, royalty and longevity of tne monarch
A Frenchman went to the lavat'ry,As for the best National anthem, La Marseillaise has to be up there...
No, I vow to the my countryEnglands should be Land of Hope and Glory
Brilliant scene in the movie. I asked my youngest sprog to come and watch it. The French National Anthem is very distinctive. I get goose bumps watching it and never tire of the film Casablanca.Apart from ours obviously. Just watching Casablanca, there's a scene with the French singing their national anthem in front of the Germans, and it made me think how rousing theirs is. But there are some that are just pretty shoite like the South American ones (written for dictators) and Italy (basically an opera).
England? What Nationality are you?Englands should be Land of Hope and Glory
