Black Rod.

Ignoring the brexitbemoaning. Moving to a shiny new office still leaves the challenge of maintaining the old building.

If there is an case the cost would be lower as a museum rather than active parliament, then that would be a good argument.

I think MPs would prefer a new building. The current one has leaking windows, constant building works, is freezing cold in winter, boiling in summer.
Its IT systems are out of date and the place is a haven for mice.

In terms of refurbiehment, it is slowly sinking, it was built with soft limestone facade that is crumbling and the place is full of asbestos.

Maybe a new building might bring about a change from FPTP to PR. I really think our tribal 2 party system is broken politics

How about a new building and new politics........

Agreed, new building, then slip away quietly without telling the nutter who's taken up residence outside where they've moved to. It's a win win situation.

Stick Parliament up north.

Redireceting resources to the North without increasing expenditure whilst freeing up resources in London. (y)

Im not against the possibility of moving parliament, Im agaanst this faux moral outrage about the cost.
So what about the 'moral outrage' quitters go on about as regards the cost of the EU parliament?

Does that come under the 'faux' category?

Is that important? I'm sure there are a lot of fire stations that are dormant for days/weeks/months throughout the year. There are many other ostentatious buildings that raise eyebrows regards cost to build and upkeep.

Do we need them - of course we do.
London Fire Brigade HQ is now flats (y)
