Bricking It

May see you down there then !! Went down in '98, will return god willing when youngest completes education, I really like the place, cheap, quality food, cheap fuel, far horizons, amazing oceans, weather to suit all tastes!!
Wife's family emigrated there many years ago, slowly her several bro's and sis's have followed.
An old childhood chum lives (for past 46yrs !) but 20 Km from them !! ... He always implores me, when I regale Oz, "Don't tell anyone, keep quiet about it for fk's sake, they'll all want to come here !!"

Well, looked at it a few years back, but this time am serious, don't get me wrong, I love England, and won't sell the house here, but, it's all getting a bit much really. Expensive, overly law and tax burdended and frankly no fun anymore. Will take stock over Christmas, but I fear that England will lose another born and bred. If I do go then yes pipme, I'll see you there !!

Pip why do they call it "New" Zealand?

I was thinking of 'Terra Australis Incognita'

"Nieu Zelandt." There appears to be no records of the naming.
Twas in the daze of the Dutch having some clout at sea .... and definitely involved the Dutch East India Company with the likes of old Tasman shoving his toe in new waters.
I think there were many southern explorations carried out from Indonesia back in the 1600's
The connection, probably, The province of Zeeland is located in south-west Holland. a number of islands, lends the name of "Sea-land". Capital of Zeeland is Middelburg.
Denmark's largest island is, apparently, also called Zealand (in Danish: Sjælland)
;)
