BT master box and Virgin boxes?

I've recently purchased a small property.
In it there are various BT sockets and Virgin cable boxes mounted about the place, upstairs, in the back rooms etc. All are connected by rather ugly wires and cables running along skirtings, over doorways and under carpets.
I want to remove the whole lot. Is there any reason not to do this?
Is there any way of checking if any of them actually work?
What appears to be the first BT socket, is mounted in the front, downstairs room on the internal wall between the Lounge and Hallway. I'm assuming that this is the Master socket and I can therefore remove everything after this? Is it a problem if I in fact remove this one as well? And just leave all of the cable hanging before they even enter the house?

Which one do you use as a master for internet?
We use virgin so we have a separate coax cable for that and phone plugs in the internet router.
If you have a landline phone then plug in the back of router. That works for both virgin and BT.

Maybe sockets have a removable face plate which all the wires plug in. Remove all the wires and leave the master for now.
Virgin used to use Nintendo security screws to access some boxes. I carried a set for years to gain access to paper behind.

Master sockets look like this but can vary.

You can see the removable face plate. Just disconnect wires from that.
Old BT socket wasn't like the link. More like your photo.

To answer yeah.

Remove master face plates.
Pull out house wires.
Leave the original line from road connected.

To test. Use a contactless wand

Re the first picture - have you traced the cables each way? I don’t think that’s the master

Thank you for your comprehensive reply.
We don't currently use any of the Virgin or B, just my mobile phone and data.
I'm thinking, based also on Murdochcat's comment above, that I'll have another look for the master, maybe it is in the loft and remove everything else everywhere.

Cheers.

If the faceplate isn't 2 piece (where the extension cables are wired into the front, lower half of the faceplate) unscrew the front part, if there is a Yellow capacitor in there that is the master socket, no yellow capacitor is an extension socket.

No sign of a capacitor so I assume, an extension one. No idea where the master is then.
What are the various wide and thinner cables coming from the Virgin box?

The VM box will have the telephone line and it looks like you have two coax cables running from it. On the other side, you have the shotgun cable (supply) running into it.

Undo the little screw on the VM box and slide the cover up.

Technically, it remains their property. However if it were my home, I would remove each of the cables to the left of the brown box. The telephone line side is only about 50 volts .

Do you mean the cables to the right? The one's going into the property. The ones to the left are the supply cables. I assume that the ends of these should remain within the box. The telephone one (the thin wires), I have already snipped and discarded the cable. I've been around the house and removed all of the white boxes and white coaxial cables. It looks a lot better now.
I didn't ever find the master BT box. At the moment their supply cable, the thin black one with the thin wires coming from roof level, is just left hanging. What should I do with this? Can I stick a scotch-block on the end and then bury in the wall?
