BT master box and Virgin boxes?

I've recently purchased a small property.
In it there are various BT sockets and Virgin cable boxes mounted about the place, upstairs, in the back rooms etc. All are connected by rather ugly wires and cables running along skirtings, over doorways and under carpets.
I want to remove the whole lot. Is there any reason not to do this?
Is there any way of checking if any of them actually work?
What appears to be the first BT socket, is mounted in the front, downstairs room on the internal wall between the Lounge and Hallway. I'm assuming that this is the Master socket and I can therefore remove everything after this? Is it a problem if I in fact remove this one as well? And just leave all of the cable hanging before they even enter the house?

Which one do you use as a master for internet?
We use virgin so we have a separate coax cable for that and phone plugs in the internet router.
If you have a landline phone then plug in the back of router. That works for both virgin and BT.

Maybe sockets have a removable face plate which all the wires plug in. Remove all the wires and leave the master for now.
Virgin used to use Nintendo security screws to access some boxes. I carried a set for years to gain access to paper behind.

Master sockets look like this but can vary.

Pull out house wires.
Leave the original line from road connected.

Re the first picture - have you traced the cables each way? I don’t think that’s the master

We don't currently use any of the Virgin or B, just my mobile phone and data.
I'm thinking, based also on Murdochcat's comment above, that I'll have another look for the master, maybe it is in the loft and remove everything else everywhere.

If the faceplate isn't 2 piece (where the extension cables are wired into the front, lower half of the faceplate) unscrew the front part, if there is a Yellow capacitor in there that is the master socket, no yellow capacitor is an extension socket.

Just remove the whole lot.
It's all obsolete anyway - even if you did want to use BT or Virgin in the future, it won't be provisioned on those copper wires.
