Hi all

I have some builders renovating the bathroom. Initially they wanted to ox in pipework but then discussed dropping under the floorboards. I've come back to find a huge section of horizontal brick work removed. I'm concerned this will impact structural integrity and not meet building regs?

The wall is next to a bay window which meana the waste cannot run externally. There is a wooden beam in the wall above the removed brickwork which I assume is support due to the bay window.

Any advice very much welcome.

Thanks
Jack

They are avoiding cutting the joists, ask them to box in the pipes if you are concerned about the walls weakening, or create a false wall.

Thanks. Yes, I guess they thought to go through the external wall lower down they would need to cut the joist which might also cause issues.

If it meets building regs and is structurally sounds I have no issues. But if there is chance of the wall collapsing or a surveyor flagging it if I try to sell then I am concerned - do you know if that is the case?

If so I will ask them to replace bricks and box in.

Cheers

The wall chases aside, the photo does not bode well, the mess left by the builders, all those push fits to be hidden away, did they use an axe? It does not give the impression of proud workmen.

How thick is the wall, is it cavity or solid?
