But where are you really from? Lady-in-waiting has resigned.

I see the 'Royalty' have been excused sex and ethnicity discrimination legislation for many, many years.
Why would that be?

The documents also shed light on how Buckingham Palace negotiated controversial clauses – that remain in place to this day – exempting the Queen and her household from laws that prevent race and sex discrimination.

Whilst no one should defend any overt ism taking place, if we're not careful, we're going to end up living in a very vanilla society. Don't say this or you might offend that group, don't say that or you might offend this group.

Kind of connected, it's a bit like some universities voting to ban various subjects from their debating chambers ... their 'debating' chambers for goodness sake!

If we try to construct a society where no one is ever offended by speech and/or literature, what are we left with?

Be very careful what you wish for ...
There's nothing wrong with discussing anything, as long as that anything is discussed in fair, honest and openness. Unfortunately "ism" is so deeply entrenched in some that they can't help themselves in phrasing their comments in an "ism" context.

(the year is 2040)

Hi, and welcome to this week's episode of 'let's talk.' Today the panel will discuss language that was commonly used in tv shows and movies as recently as 2029 and whether re-runs of these shows should now be banned to avoid potentially causing offence.

We start by looking at an episode of Eastenders from 2023. Within this episode, the word 'damn' is used three times, the word 'bitch' twice and the word 'bloody' once.

Mike and Mary, welcome to this week's panel. As you both know, the use of any word and/or phrase that has the potential to cause offence has now been banned within any new media and literature as part of the government's 2030 'safe space' policy. In light of this, should the banning of historic media and literature be considered if it contains any word and/or phrase that has the potential to cause offence? In short Mike and Mary, should this pre 2030 episode of Eastenders be banned from future viewings?
Usually a word of warning is sufficient, something like, "this programme was recorded in an era when "ism" was considered acceptable".

Often, where children are concerned, who cannot appreciate the concept of cultural relativity, the phrases are best amended until they reach an age when they can understand such concepts.

the reaction is over the top.
Not if it's a continual and persistent reoccurrence throughout one's life.
When one suffers from such hierarchy as the Royal family, one becomes even more aware of how deeply entrenched racism is in society.

DIYnot asks your location and Country in your profile, there on the left.

I now feel abused
Some of those on here that are quick to scream 'ism's' either lie about their location or refuse to tell. NOYFB they will say if asked. You’ll be accused of being a creepy stalker should you ask them so much as what county they live in. They must be hard to have a real-life conversation with as they would fiercely uphold their right to answer a question…..

It's only when they don't believe you and insist on repeatedly asking you, that it becomes abuse.

She's 83 years old. My guess it's not her first meeting with a black woman. Maybe her luck run out and she finally met one with a sack of potatoes attached

It's going to be discussed on The Jeremy Vine show, so I'll listen in.

Some on here think it's OK to reveal people's personal data without their permission.
