how do i know if it has overheat protection? is that not part of the boiler thermostat? or is overheat protection a device which actually cuts off the boiler and requires manual resetting?
In the manual there will be a description of all the controls. Overheats can either interrupt a thermocouple or power supply to the gas valve and will require a manual reset. If your boiler has no mention of overheat, then it has none. More importantly, the manufacturers will say if the boiler is suitable for a sealed system. If there is no mention then it can't be done.
oh well never mind. It was a good simple plan while it lasted!!!
I will have to rethink the open vented plan again.
Can the valves be fitted in the return which leaves an open path to the vent? Yodaveg said it could be done, but im wondering if having the HW on with the heating off will still allow some of the rads to heat up due to the valve being after the last rad? or will the lack of circulation due to closed valve prevent that?
