CAN ANY ONE HELP PLEASE IM STUCK

Pannerstan accordin to reply it is not a gravity system anyway.but symptons of a partially blocked anti gravity valve are just this it will allow just enough hot water through to heat closest rads and heat every rad individually if others are turned off but will not allow enough flow to heat all or half of them at same time

Nuff said I get ya

same prob as yesterday today i emptyed the system flushed through yet again put new grundfos pump on this as same as old one on the return near the back boiler filled the system back up from the mains out side to force air or any blockage water came out from the over flow let all air out from rads reset the level in the header tank lit the back boiler still not getting the hot water to all rads tried balancing. i switched all rads of bar 1 and now steam coming out in the header tank from a pipe any surgestions as to what else might be causing the prob, it is a back boiler with header tank in loft pump on return pipe (new pump) no blockages as filled it backwards from mains am at a loss the hot water is not gravity fed as far as i know as we have a time switch for water only or heating and water near the pump the hot water in the cilinder is piping hot, now i have steam coming out into the header tank in the loft from a vent pipe i have just tried to see if any air in the new pump and no water came out even when i tried with the pump runnin (just for a second) no air no water could you tell me should the back boiler have a cold feed of its own or dose it fill from the header tank

Do you have a 3 port valve on your system. May need manually setting to allow water through to your rads. :D

I'm not a plumber so may be talking rubbish, but my take on this is that you have silted up rads downstairs. Everyone knows that water will always take the easiest route around the circuit and back again. What I think is happening is when the other rads are switched off then there is enough pressure in the pumped water to force its way through the silted up rads and back to the boiler - hence they get hot. When you open the other rads into the system then the water is too lazy to go through the silted up rads and goes an easy route via the other rads - and hence the silted rads cool down.

To test this theory open all the rads and then open the bleed screw of the rad or rads that's playing up. If there's only a dribble then that's your proof.

Worth a try eh?

no i am not a plumber either just a lowly builder/roofer but thanks joe will put that test to the challange, right now will try anything thanks for the repy

You say there is no 3port valve, is there 1 or 2, 2port valves.

How is the hot water.

Can you program the hot water to come on seperately to the heating.

Can you program heating only without hot water.

Whats the make and model of the boiler.

Where does the cold feed and vent connect to the system.

many thanks for your help doitall, there are no port valves from the system only 2 stop cocks either side of pump, the hot water to the taps is scolding hot steam as well as water when boiler on full, we can have the programmer or timer set to hot water only or ch and hot water cannot have ch on its own only the water, the boiler is a glow worm majorca radiant convecter fire with back boiler, the cold feed comes up from the bedroom to the ball cock in the header tank new ball cock fitted n water level ok don't know if the boiler has a separate cold feed as only that pipe visible,
the vent comes up from the bedroom into loft and is T,ed of up to the top of the hot water cil and then goes to bend in header tank, there is also another vent from the mid of hot water cil that goes into the cold water storage tank. both cold water feeds to the storage tank and header fill ok when pushing the ball cock down, thanks for taking the time to help it is very much appreceated

Gravity primaries then, does the pump run in hot water only mode.

You say there is only 2 pipes connected to the boiler, is that a guess or confirmed, either you have at least 3 pipes or there's a motorised valve somewhere, maybe under the floor.

thanks for reply doitall i have just tried the pump on water only and no it seems not to work so i tried it a few times from ch and hot water that works to water only and it seems not to work (could that be the prob) through the wall there is only 2 pipes return with the pump on and feed from the boiler in 22mm, under the floor above the boiler i can c what seems to be 2 lead pipes cuming from the i assume the boiler as they are hot but are on the inside of the fireplace not showing where the 22mm comes through,

have a look where the pump joins the return you may have a injector tee which is obstructed/partialy blocked
28mm flow
28mm return
22mm pumped return
the tee will be on the ret with a 15mm stub connecting the pump to the ret they can be compression or soldered

Agreed m8 thats how it should be, but there has to be a third pipe for the primary return, somewhere between the pump and the boiler.

ask curly he had an unusaul set up on his bb,took a day to find the pipe but it was their :LOL:hows the health hanging now mate :)

Still having tests, Trev

Think its time to trace all the pipes from the boiler, to where ever they go, there must be a tee off for the heating flow somewhere
