I had a kitchen refit 5 years ago and as part of the refit an electrician fitted the following

Supply and Fit new mini consumer unit
Installation of new kitchen ring (due to standard of existing electrics)
Renew Earth bonding back to board
Install new 6mm cooker circuit to induction hob

at the time they fitted an oven which was 13amp

I have an induction hob and the oven running from the cooker circuit

if i replace the oven do i still have to use a 13amp one or can i use a 16amp one.

i have had conflicting advice on the scewfix forums.

one poster says i am limited to 27 amps due to it being nstallation method 101 6.0 mm T&E is rated at 27 amp

another says that From your description Method C has been used. That makes the current carrying capacity of 6mm twin & earth to be 47 amps.

the cable runs along underneath the adjacent cabinets into a new consumer unit. The cables are not isolated etc

That is correct but only if the cable really is installed to method 101 - which is above a ceiling with the cable covered with more than 100mm of insulation.

A 32A circuit is suitable for pretty much all arrangements and combinations of domestic cooking appliances.
The only difference is how the oven is connected - up to 13A can be plugged in and are often supplied with a plug fitted.
Above that they need to be hard wired, but that's just a case of changing the socket outlet for a connection plate.

I have this switch at the moment - can i use one of these to hard wire the induction hob and new oven into the existing switch etc
