Can my WC flush valve be repaired in situ?

Yeah, it is the flush valve. Tried turning it and no joy as in my post #6. Guess I’ll have to take the whole bog out and it’s usually a bit of a pain. Can't get at anything until it’s removed in one piece. This type:

Just have. All done now. (y) Like an idiot, I was trying to turn the whole body, not just the top section!

I now consider myself a fully qualified plumber. ;)

Your more qualified than a lot of the pipe pushers out there.

Yes I can see it now. You should start a new thread on spot the very expensive watch ⌚
"Very expensive watch" :ROFLMAO: Do you even know what watch it is? I think the shiny bracelet has muddled yer 'ead!

OK then do a price is right thread.
You show off your expensive stuff but borrow cheap stuff off neighbours and friends, you and Mrs Mot can model the expensive stuff and the cheap stuff gets modelled by others.

We have to guess the price.

You can start a price is right thread if you like - I only start interesting threads. ;) The only person interested in the price of other peoples possessions on here at the moment seems to be you.

I noticed your toilet roll! Is that the stuff that doesn't rip in the wrong places.

I still miss the plastic stuff from public toilets in times gone by.

Back on subject. It’s started doing the same again. Just bad luck? Fit another flush valve? Also, just as the fill comes to a stop, it makes an 'orrible screeching sound. New fill valve needed as well or can they be repaired in situ as it is a right palaver getting the bog out.

Post a picture of what is fitted in the cistern.

Andy. This is it with the blue cap removed. Are there any user replaceable parts inside although I’ve just been rattling the float lever up and down for a bit and now it makes a short 'eek' when shutting down instead of a 10 second 'eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek'. Could I have dislodged a bit of limescale?

Also, the flush valve was replaced just over a year ago and occasionally leaks. I only found that out when the cystern started filling and 'eeeeeeeeeeeking' every 15 minutes during the night. I imagine I’ve just been unlucky with the fill valve and will need to replace it again.
