Yes I was hoping to replace the existing flush system that has 2 rods from the button to something newer that has the cable attached to the push button..

The pipe on the wall , there is no room for movement really as it looks pretty well stuck firm.. The connector I guess will just slot inside the pipe in the wall and not around it?

Yes pan connector goes inside.
No silicone at all.
The one you linked to should do ,however ,measure the length of your existing one compressed ,and also when extended. And ensure the new one has the same adjustable lengths.
You should stick to a flush valve that is operated by the rods ,as you have now .

I think my measurement for the waste pipe in the wall didn't account for the end of the old pan connector still attached to the pipe as it only measured just over 90mm and the connector I've seen is 110

Yes ,the multi finned seal is still in the pipe. It all looks like a bit of a lash up at the wall. You really should see some of the pipe into the room. Maybe carefully chip away at the plaster ,to expose the pipe edge,just to see how far back it is set into the wall .

I've pulled off the little bit of the finned seal..the pipe edgeis pretty much flush with the wall..

I'm struggling to get the cistern off the wall I've used the blade from a hack saw to try and cut away at the pva or whatever is holding the cistern to the wall but not having much success

For future reference, use a scaper...tap down with hammer if required

Another tool that can be used however only for around the first 4" in. I had a pita one where the whole of the back face was stuck with something or whatever, took ruddy hours, scraper, carving knife, wood saw whatever I could lay my hands on I used it.

I ended up using my wife's carving knife and a saw blade

Last ballache I was confronted with, was two back2back ensuites with cisterns and basins stuck to the wall with what looked like a whole tube of pink grip each!

Luckily, I was ripping them both out to create one larger ensuite
