Can't get new 12V AC fan to work

Hi,

I bought a new Melrose 12V AC humidstat fan to replace my Air Vent that doesn't work well. I specifically bought this new model so as not to have to replace the 12V transformer. However I can't get the new fan to work despite my multimeter showing the correct 12V output. I have steamed the whole bathroom and the fan did not budge. What am I doing wrong?

Seems the permanent live needs a wire. How was the old one wired?

Good catch, I moved the switch live cable into live and it now works. The previous setup did not use the switch live socket. Any reason no to put the left out cable into the switch live socket? I mostly want to use the humidstat feature.

Beware humidistat fans are notoriously hard to set up and work consistently and they won’t remove smells

Indeed. I've even seen them installed in toilets, which is plain daft
