Gas safety installation and use regulations 1998That's brilliant. Thank you. Where did you get that from?

Thanks. So anyone switching off the gas to fix the the cooker must attempt to restart the boiler then?Gas safety installation and use regulations 1998
I managed to light the fireplace thats part of the boiler though, so guess thats okProbably needs purging of air
Correct, if the gas has been decayed from the pipework. This is why I asked where he turned the gas off, as if it was just an isolation valve for the cooker, then no need to disturb anything else and therefore would only need to purge and relight the cooker.Thanks. Not just initial installation?
The engineer was from Hotpoint as cooker still under the 1 year warranty. Would like to think they would have checked that.Sometimes the ht lead can come off so gas at the pilot assembley will not ignite.
Other times the piezo ignitor can be defective
Original thermocouples were almost indestructible, modern ones are quite poor quality.
Second the call that cooker fitter ( I take it you checked his gas safe card)
Is a safety restraint fitted?
Can you take a picture of the hose and post here?
If you have a bayonet fitting, then you don’t need one, as it’s classed as suitable. We have no idea why the gas was turned off, unless it’s Hotpoint policy or the pipe work was affected?Thinking that it might be worth getting a cooker gas isolation valve might be a good idea, so for any future work, the boiler needn't be affected.
Any suggestions?
Yeah, the bloke who usually does the gas service and hopefully fixing the boiler ignition today, did question why the hotpoint engineer didn't just disconnect the bayonet fitting. If you have a bayonet fitting, then you don’t need one, as it’s classed as suitable. Not really, as the ECV can pass just like a bayonet could. The difference would be leak detection fluid on the bayonet fitting to ensure the gas isn't passing. Basic stuff really.I'm guessing by disconnecting that bayonet hose, there's less guarantee of switching the gas off than from the lever by the meter.
There would no harm in having one, but I don't think there's a dual type. Up to you if you wanted the additional expense. You could always take it up with Hotpoint as to why he turned the gas off leaving you without a functioning boiler.Seriously thinking about getting an isolation valve fitted for the cooker.
Would be nice if it was possible to get a bayonet hose which has an isolation valve built in as would be a simple job.
If there's such a thing?
I did take it up with Hotpoint who just called him and relayed the message back to me saying that it wasn't his responsibility and he didn't have experience with these boilers anyway. Not really, as the ECV can pass just like a bayonet could. I did. They said that if I wanted a different engineer, it would be late next week some time.Your point of contact is Hotpoint, I would be telling them to sort it out and if it means they send out a different engineer so be it.
Andy
existing fault with back boiler igntion , not hotpoints problem .Your point of contact is Hotpoint, I would be telling them to sort it out and if it means they send out a different engineer so be it.

Hotpoint bloke didn't even attempt to light itexisting fault with back boiler igntion , not hotpoints problem .
Same as when meter installers or cadent attend yep attempt to light it but if it doesnt light its not their problem
