I would have to drug the cat to get them on it would tear me to shreds, I was thinking of removing their claws with pliers but the wife wont let me.

I am sorry you did not like my drainpipe solution.

The drain pipe idea sounds good, a workmate suggested rather than looking for U shaped pipe of the correct size to get 2 inch pipe and cut a slot 1/2 inch wide along its length then bend the pipe over the insulation and let go, it will spring back and keep it in place, a few cable ties and job sorted.

I would rather lag the cats with razor wire then shoot them when i got bored of hearing them cry.
