Cleaning CH system using Sentinel X800

My nearest homebase is in harlow. Luckily for me most of the installers in that area don't know what it is

 Most installers here including my own just do the 2 hour clean with Fernox F3 or similar :!:

Yes perhaps I should have said:

Interesting info guys,
I'm about to administer X800 tomorrow into my 16 year old Vailant ecoTec s plus system, then add 100.

Im a tad worried that the H/W plate might get some crud in it, as MickyG said.
Would it probably be safer NOT to run the water maybe?

I'm not doing it today now, the wife wants to go out for a few hours, so it's gonna be tomorrow m
And yes, I will drain rinse, and then fill with 800, , so I can leave the system on for a couple of hours While she's out (she doesn't like too much heat) :D

I meant, drain and rinse out the X800 plus the rubbish it loosened.

Of course, I'll be draining the system after It's been running with x800 for several hours, >Draining then filling again to flush etc. ;)

But I'd still like to know if it's worth running the H/Water with the X800 in, or will it put some of the crud from the rads through it?

It's purpose is to loosen crud, which you then drain out.

I think it is more likely to clean the hex than make it dirty.

Will be interesting to find out.

So, would you say run the water for about 30 minutes and hope for the best as the plate fins are so tight?

I don't have a combi, but I understand heat exchangers are quite difficult to clean. I suppose if you run the HW cycle first, the fresh chemical will run through it before you turn on the radiators and pick up additional sludge out of them. You can then stop using HW while you clean out the CH and drain the system.

As a householder, I have got quite a lot of sludge and particles out using a Magnaclean, which continues capturing them after a chemical clean because the remaining dirt has been loosened and washes round in the water for a month or so until it settles again. Without the chemical, it stays wherever it has accumulated, and without the Magnaclean all remaining dirt settles back again.

Thanks for all the replies guys,
I'm just about to do the work today. There are a couple of drops to the lounge and hallway to drain too
Exciting eh :D

Right I'm fully drained now, and the water was pretty clear, which I did;t expect,
The Magnatron (or whatever it's called) was black and a small bit of crud on it, cleaned that up.
I have put the X800 in the top of the kitchen rad, so when filled I hope it'll circulate OK.
