People not being able to understand a graph is more understandable, although still disappointing. Understanding the limitations of your data is pretty complex and it's a difficult habit to get into.

Notice the lack of examples, names, anything to prove his point. He's repeating what he's heard and, deeply ironically, hasn't dug to check his annecdote is true or not.

Climate breakdown drove the annual global temperature above the internationally agreed 1.5C target for the first time last year, supercharging extreme weather and causing “misery to millions of people”.
