Combi boiler has hot water but no heating

Hi all,

We have been away for two weeks and upon returning the boiler had a fault due to low pressure.

I have topped up the loop and fired up the boiler then put the heating on but no hot water going to rads or underfloor heating.

The hot water is working fine

It feels like something's frozen as the hot flow pipe from the boiler is hot but the return is cold.

The system is a combi boiler with 4 underfloor zones downstairs and one zone with rads upstairs.

I will be calling a plumber out today but living in a village and might not to get immediate help so any ideas are appreciated

While i was away i asked the neighbour to top up the water in the loop as they have the same boiler.

They reported that the hand valve was stuck which i know one of the two does require a bit of force

When i came back i topped up the loop, boiler fired up properly, but rads wouldn't get hot.

I looked at the manual and noticed that they have closed the ch return valve !

Well fathomed out... Us engineers even do it because it's so easy to overlook... Another lesson in KISS!
