So they repair a gas boiler PCB with non approved parts. Bung that in a boiler and the gas valve doesn't close.


Boiler goes supernova and the fitter gets done under the GSIUR. I wonder what the mighty Geoff would offer by way of warranty and legal support?

Would you be happy driving a car with remould tyres, or secondhand brake pads/disc's....I doubt it, but your willing to risk a customer using a pcb board in their boiler from a company that can't test that it's safe to use on a gas appliance.

Pollock whats a pollock is that some sort of fish, yes i would be happy driving with remolds and quite often have, but the point about refurbished boards is that they come with a guarantee, and they have assured me that they do test them. and I dont know of any boiler that would suffer from the symptoms you describe if the pcb goes down obviously a man of your experience has come across the said boiler

You only have to look at the blue BG isar pcb fiasco to know what manufacturers think of reconditioned and non approved parts, the pcb is a safety device i remember ideal was riddoring for this??

Would never use remoulds on a car or van. Michelin Pilot Sports every time. When you have not much more than 4 of your hand spans holding £30K's worth of car and more importantly my family to the road in all weather conditions I like to know that I have done everything possible to keep them safe.

Manlow, not having a pop at you, but surely 40 years of experience and 70 years of life should tell you that a little sweatshop in Watford is not going to be churning out decent quality. A little research next time methinks .

Yes some of us have had run ins with Geoff and his company in the past. But, a new board for these is less than £200. .

Dan, when it comes to PCB's, I doubt the genuine articles are made in a factory resembling a Formula 1 constructor's workshop floor.

No but they are type approved with the buck stopping with the manufacturer should anything untoward happening.


Have you read their T&C's? A total joke.

Having said that, if you have been to Vaillant - you could eat your dinner off the surfaces in the factory.

It's the same in most boiler assembly factories I've visited, though that's not usually where the PCB's are made. As it happens I'm struggling to think of any functional part in a modern Vaillant actually made by them.

As for CET, I have used them mostly for friends and family boilers and found a successful fix each time. I don't offer them to customers as I have nothing to gain by saving them the money.

Repaired & recycled parts are nothing new and I'm not sure there is anything illegal about them. They are not snide copies after all.

End of the day whether you agree with recon or not. The OP has seemed to come on here to slag a company off a drag them through the mud, which is wrong, the company by the comments on here seem to give a good service most of the time, we all have bad days in business now and again.
