Starmer's certainly done an amazing job of detoxifying the Labour party. It's a spectacular turnaround. Obviously he's had a lot of help from the Tories.

He says he'll stay and fight on but it's hard to see how. Perhaps he'll hang around to see what's left of the Party before jetting off to California. The struggle for the Tory soul has begun.

The right and left of the party have fallen in equal numbers... the trouble is not which direction they can lurch but where is the space to lurch to.

Reform has the right, labour now sits across the middle with the Lib dems.

If they try right then the voters in the middle of the party will run to the libs as they have done all night.

To the centre, reform gains and voters say well I may as well vote labour or lib.

There is no broad church left to inhabit, down to a leaky scout hut.
