Actually I was all for the shortlived poll tax, seems fair to me to pay for what you use and not based on the size of your house, but as proved by all the protests at the time there are a fair number of dissenters on the subject!!!

sell up, buy a caravan, pay nothing and leave all your ****e for others to clean at taxpayers expense - sorted

Our council is blowing its own trumpet about keeping the increase to 4.7%, they conveniently don't mention they sold (or gave away ) their housing stock to a third party.

Given that subsidised housing was one of the biggest costs the tax should really come down.
