CPR first aid just in case you don't know how to perform it.

I'd be very interested to see the court report of a case where a person tried to sue the rescuer who saved their life.

Well durr.

What about the court report of the person suing the person who did some inappropriate botched first aid and caused unnecessary permanent injury?

According to The Resuscitation Council in the UK no one has ever succesfully sued someone who went to their aid in an emergency. What are you basing this on woods? Or have you been on the cheese again?

in England and Wales there is no obligation to be a rescuer (with a few exceptions). Until you intervene to try and rescue someone, you do not owe that person a duty.

As soon as you do intervene, however, you owe them a duty. Specifically, you owe them a duty not to make the situation worse
This does not mean that you'll be liable if you give someone first aid and in doing so, you make the situation worse. Duty is different to liability. Someone who intervenes may owe a duty not to make the situation worse, their actions would still be judged against those of a 'reasonable person' in the circumstances.

That test would take account of your skill and experience along with everything else going on

It's normal to break a few ribs.

Hanging around waiting for a witness is a foolish idea.

I seem to remember that St Johns ambulance have insurance cover, so if you do one of their courses, then you are covered for performing first aid.

There are certainly stories of help not being forthcoming in US due to worries about litigation.

And I cant remember why, but if you have a bad road accident in India, nobody will come and help

Nothing but meaningless drivel from notch and woody.

Oh so for a lot of you in an emergency situation it's better to do nothing and let them pegg it .........Some of the posts on this are moronic

No it's not.

But there's a massive difference to being trained and certified and doing something you saw on YouTube once.

Really? Are you a trainer?

Every minute you spend hanging around and puffing at your fag brings the casualty another minute closer to death.

load of rubbish

Does that group offer any information when the first aider is faced with say an injured person who has a Do Not Resucitate notice?

The good trainers will include advice on the legalities and potential decisions and downsides of giving first aid.

You're not getting it are you, and not even a jolt will get those synapses working in that thick head of yours.

Have you ever seen someone like yourself put a tourniquet on a person because that's what he saw on a film once? And have to be dragged away from the injured person before he did more damage, despite his protests that he knew what he was doing?

That's what I'm talking about. Whilst you are just talking crap as usual.

and yet you suggest hanging around waiting for a witness, while the casualty goes cold.
