Crash Helmets

As long as it's a top safety rated helmet the most important thing is the fit.

v. true. you don't want your head rattling around in there.

my bro-in-law got knocked off on the M1 by another biker. He told me he was wearing a Vemar helmet and after the accident he bought a new helmet and decided to test the Vemar with a sledgehammer. It took several full-on blows before he could break through.

First helmet was a Shoei, most recent an Arai that was professionally fitted by an Arai race engineer. As someone has already said it's important to get the fit right, but apart from that just spend as much as you can - you won't believe the difference in comfort between the best and the worst.

For me, noise isn't a factor, because no helmet is quiet enough to wear without ear plugs.

...member of M.A.G, didn't want helmet laws  . Then it saves my life, and guess wot, I changed my view on lids, unsurprisingly!
You say unsurprisingly, but this was the problem that led me to become thoroughly disillusioned with MAG - the key members, far from being enlightened and visionary, were blinkered, closed-minded and obnoxious. It was embarrassing to be a member.

Got a 1970`s Stadium  .......well it`s BS. and fibreglass so I paint it every so often

i was under the impresion that painting a crash helmet weakens it

and the trouble is you dont know how weak it is untill you have an accident
.......not so with fibreglass ;) .....and I reckon it`s not worth a lite anyway.......but I wear it cuz the law says I have to and being a genuine BS one it`s within the law ..........I know it wouldn`t save my head but It`s the other limbs that get broken most....and when I`m on the trike i don`t need one at all :)

Er, because you're worried about what would happen if your helmet scraped along the road at 70mph?

I'm on my second Aria, when you've had the best why turn to anything else?! :D

I tried a Roof, great look but the water leaked into the inside of the visor and a few others in between but non were worth the money.

Ican't wear Shoei they press down on my forehead.

I would need to know someone very intimately before I brought his helmet - even more so his boxers, ooh er

Also, there is something nice about your own helmet. After time the padding moulds to the shape of your head and it smells right.

I also take my own helmet kart racing, anyone thats been will understand why.

I do, and I have too, for the same reasons.

Have you tried the new "Neanderthal-Friendly Range"? :D

I did the Roof, they're French....No, only joking.

I don't like wearing anyone elses helmet, the thought of wearing a helmet that someone else has sneezed in

Yes, nothing like a good sing song to take your mind off the sheer boredom of a long distance bike ride.
