I got mine through the ECA, my current one is through a school I do work for, had to sit through some vids and have a session with the safeguarding head, TBH I think I know more people with DBS than not

College sent me a link but they paid for it so I don't know how much it cost.
I got the actual certificate and just gave them a photocopy when I took it in.

It was a basic check £23.00 never offered anything else.

Shouldn’t really need to unless you start training kids. It should be fine for what you want - you’ll probably never be asked to show it but by truthfully stating that you have it, you may find vulnerable people are more likely to feel safer with you compared to someone who hasn’t got one.

I think so. But the kids thing would be another bow as there are kids about when I carry out my work.

I have the basic which allows me to work alone in some schools and places of further education.

I work in many schools and old peoples homes. No problem with the basic DBS check, even though only a very few have asked to see it.
