Dead bugs and debris coming out of hot water tank.

The fortic tank has been cleaned. What is the heating header cistern? The plumber used a wet vac

Both tanks, should have lids on them, in part to keep dirt out, but also to help reduce the moisture evaporating out of them. Before fitting a lid to that loft header tank, it needs a good clean out.

Hmm good point. Do British gas usually do that?
Any heating engineer worth his salt should make sure the system is clean before fitting a new boiler. The header tank is part of that and usually contains plenty of muck. I’d be surprised if the manufacturer would entertain a claim for a fault if it found all that muck in it.

Hmm yeah, thanks. We were pretty naive to it as we had the boiler done pretty much straight away. It's been past the years warranty for the heating system now too so it's only the boiler that is covered.

Do the pictures help anyone understand why I'm getting dead bugs out of the hot tap?
