"I get a lot of repeat business"..............which implies.....you DIDN'T do the job correctly in the first place
............ I am not here in defence of the tradesmen you refer to - they can do that themselves. What I do take issue with is your interpretation of: "I get a lot of repeat business". I doubt if anyone else in the whole country would interpret this as you have done, as meaning that the tradesman botched the job in the first place. It simply means, I was pleased with the work you done previously and based on that experience, would like you to come back and do other jobs for me. Personally, I use the same joiner, plumber and decorator time after time after time because I am happy with the finished product and the price.
No response to THAT thread has been answered in good taste, and leaves a bad taste in the mouths of consumers
............was it about food preperation, THAT thread?
These people are up themselves
.............I see! They work nights while the rest of us are sleeping
They............charge excessive for non work, to the point of criminality
..........I would agree that where the tradesman wastes time like the plumber on Watchdog last week and then presents a bill which includes charges for time wasted, it is criminal. Having said that, if the guy wants to charge £100 for each half hour and makes that perfectly clear to the customer in advance and doesn't waste time, I see nothing wrong in that. Two months ago, I fitted a doughnut washer to the underside of my cystern in less the 30 minutes. The guy on Watchdog charged (I think) £600+ for the same job but also fitted parts that were not required. That may have appeared to be dishonesty, but as far as I know, the matter was not referred to the police.
