I've got a hammer and a blowtorch, so I'm competent to do gas work. Can I come in to the CC now please

Let me make it clear..By implying that a lot of repeat work has happened implies, that the 1st fix didn't work.

No, it doesn't. Our gas engineer gets a lot of repeat business. Doing servicing. And removing the gas fire we were no longer able to use safely. And removing a radiator, and fitting a new one elsewhere. Oh, and fitting a new hob when we replaced the kitchen.
Our decorator gets a lot of repeat business. Doing other rooms. Same for the plasterer.
So when doing gas work, did you not address issues like a faulty gas fire, or removing a rad?
It seems that you are completely incompetent, miss potential threats to life, and have to revisit, and charge more, to fix stuff, you initially missed?
Surely a competent person would initially identify those as a threat to human life, and address the issue?
But you state you left....in a dangerous state...then returned, and charged extra, for your incompetence?
..hence 'repeat business', that is my and probably most other peoples idea of repeat business.
Of course not. When you have your tyre changed, they don't check the oil, the lights and the brakes; they just change the oil.So when doing gas work, did you not address issues like a faulty gas fire, or removing a rad?
Strange to respond in red.........simply making use of the existing facility, which, when used to reply within your quote, differentiates my contribution from your own Micky. Adds a little brightness to the page too dont you think?
Let me make it clear..By implying that a lot of repeat work has happened implies, that the 1st fix didn't work..........No Mickey, while I generally agree with everything you say, on this occasion, you've got it wrong, but I think you know that.
You state that you don't defend your practice, or peers...........no Micky! I said, and I quote: "I am not here in defence of the tradesmen you refer to". Perhaps you should re-read my reply.
but post in red writing........and I have explained why above.
and are quite aggressive in your post defending them..........my apologies, it was not my intention to be aggressive Micky.
So you are a liar also?..........if you think that I was being economical with the truth Micky, then that was my fault for not making myself clear. It certainly was not my intention to give a false impression. There are times however, when, like most people, I do resort to the occasional 'white lie'.
I have no idea what you are carping on about about food preparation........."No response to THAT thread has been answered in good taste, and leaves a bad taste in the mouths of consumers"..a poor attempt at humour on my part Micky.
I'd be wary of employing somebody that fitted a doughnut washer, to my cystern........ because either way a cystern is a figment of your imagination. It is called a cistern.........if you mean that it is spelt 'c-i-s-t-e-r-n' Micky, why do you spell it the other way yourself?
It seems like you are a doughnut..........ah, you've spotted the hole in my arguement Micky.
And don't know a spade from an arrow...............wondered why the string on my bow keeps breaking.
and then throw abuse elsewhere when you get it wrong..........Micky, I have never felt so ashamed in my whole life
But you can't deny MM his concept. We all base our own individual concepts, of the world around us, by our own experiences.
If MM's experiences of repeat business is having to do the same task over and over again, because he can't get it right, then he's entitled to his version of 'Repeat Business'.
I cant replace my UPVC windows at home that need doing. {.....} I cant legally do it.
If it isn't already, the world would be in turmoil if we all put our own slant on the meanings of words or phrases. Surely, in the case in hand, it would be kinder and more beneficial to MM if the true meaning of'repeat business' was explained. Imagine the scenario whereby MM approaches a tradesman to get a job done but turns that tradesman down because he is told that the latter gets a lot of repeat business and then accepts the services of another who says that he never gets repeat business.
After all, how are diy'ers like us supposed to become competent to do gas if we can't read about how the pro's go about things?
That's the catch 22 on gas. You have to be competent to sit the exams, and you can't work on gas unless you're competent.
No wonder Joe's got the hump.
1. As you've probably gathered, MM is beyond help.
2. In the UK, free speech is a given right, (within reason).
3. Surely, you wouldn't deny MM the freedom to form his own perception of the world around him.
4. are you suggesting we must all share the same perceptions? 'Thought police' comes to mind.
