Spring is here and we seem to have grown a few of the above on here.
How anyone can be upset by what some "anonymous fool" posts on an internet forum is beyond me. Then again my "sensitive side" was never very dominant, it must be wonderful to be so in touch with your emotions.

Yeah, sticks and stones may break my bones but cash gets me there quicker ;)

Depends what they post sooey. Deliberate insults/abuse etc have no place on forums. I have never deliberately insulted anyone. although I'll put my hand up and admit, I've responded to insults, in a less than ideal way.
Put it this way, if some of the insults on here, had happened down your local, there would probably have been a few punches thrown..
Interesting that the thread now locked, contains a word from Mod 10 saying we have to reach a certain limit on insulting/abusive posts. Why should there be an arbitrary limit? A post , if deliberately abusive should be deleted as soon as practicable by Mods and a ban on the poster implemented immediately. Let's say 1 week for a first offence, 2 weeks for a second offence, 3 weeks for a third offence, then a lifetime ban for a fourth.

IP addresses should be logged so that person , can't re-register under another name/email address.
email addresses , for registration, should only be addresses provided by the members ISP (no gmail, yahoo webmail addy's etc)

I feel this would go some way to either stop or reduce the deliberate insults/abuse on here.

I post on a lot of forums but seldom on here... too much name calling. The only threads that don't seem to deteriorate into a slagging match being those made when a major sports personality dies.

This topic hasn't even been on here for 2 hours and already 2 replies have been deleted. Hmmmm

TBH its all getting a bit over modded, literally any disagreent or contrary opinions go now.

Not much room for discussion or a bit of banter

There's a world of difference between discussion, banter and downright insults/abuse though. As I said before, if some of these discussions were to happen face to face, in the local, there would be fisticuffs and the landlord would more than likely ban someone.

I have personaly tried in a number of threads (not all) to play it straight
and before long out come the same old comments: muslims, PC correctness, daft photoshopped images , pathetic variations of my forum name.

It seems if you do not conform to a certain viewpoint or way of thinking on this forum then people try to shout you down often without ever actually responding to the points you make

I believe there is a law, like 'Sod's Law', that applies to forums; I forget the name, People post abuse in the months upto Winter, as people get gloomy, and then again in the Spring(?)..they also post abuse when there is a full moon, but that mainly affect the females, and as forums generally are male dominated, the males vent their frustrations on the forums, as escapism.

The main part of this law (there is a name for it), is that no matter what you post, somebody, somewhere, WILL take offense to it, regardless of what's said, and by page 2/3, you normally get a reference to Hitler, or some other dictator, that gets the thread banned.

I don't understand why my 'Have you ever rung 999' thread has been deleted, just delete the abuse, not the thread. Maybe the anonymous mods, are the abusers, and if they don't like what they see..Censored.

Delete old threads, OK, but not current, or explain why a thread has been deleted to the OP.

So some grumpy old person took offence to my post and had it deleted?
That could have been any one of a large number of people on here.
Watch that get deleted now.
