Do you watch any soaps??

I used to watch CS and EE when I was younger and would be lying if I didn't say I quite enjoyed them at the time. However 10-15 years back I gradually stopped due to the ever increasing stupid storylines. And although dramatic license is obviously needed to make the stories, scenes like this started to really annoy me ...

(scene in the pub, Bob & Mary sitting in a booth talking about Jock)

Bob: Mary, I have to tell you something about Jock.
Mary: What?
Bob: I think he murdered Fiona. Listen, you can't say a word to anyone, ok?!?
Mary: Ok.

(camera slowly pulls out and who do we see sitting in the next booth? Jock.)

People on low wages buying a pint or spirit, taking a sip then leaving the pub or not touching the drink at all.
Albert Square on EE, 90% of those folk couldn't afford to live in a square like that today.

etc etc. Having said all that, if it's what floats your boat fair enough, we all like different stuff.

Very valid points re EE and the clowns that live there and affordability we often talk about that and Emmerdale

Thanks for the interesting post on my thread

None of them in EE have a washing machine either - they're always on the launderette.

Theres a high demand for solicitors in CS, never used to be, when the travel agents opened everyone was booking holidays

We often say that

And the ruddy cabs, which cab driver in their right mind drives back to the cab office with the advent of the mobile phone.

Who the F shops at markets these days

The pub is the worse culprit they often have 4 staff and 2 customers one of which is the extended family.

And the very high demand is by almost everyone in the street and the solicitors at times **** the customers twice.
Once via legal advice costs then the asain guy and Abi and the other guy and half the street.

Recently on Corrie, two different characters had cause to call the police for two different reasons - non of which was a murder, seemed to be early evening, and lo and behold two different coppers actually turned up within minutes.

Previously I've seen characters go to hospital and actually get seen instantly.

And yet the poxy script writers are praised for tackling real life issues. o_O

Must be 35-40 years since I watched a soap. Last thing I remember was the factory in CS burning down. Think it must have been late 80's at least.

Very true but it is a soap and near to life for many that watch it :D

The paper shop with a few sweets and few dozen toys seems to support to full time staff, lol.

Latest since you last watched that it has burnt down 5 times since, blown up once, collapsed after dodgy work and changed hands 7 times
Hey, humanitarian. Do you watch a lot of chick flicks? You've gone all quiet on the is he/is she question.
