eek! here we go.

You would really think after all these years and many many windows releases, that microsoft could come up with some thing a bit more informative than a dialog box that simply says installation failed, with an OK button
They have. Trouble is you've got to install windows 8 to see it

No. Not that they'd even look at it if you could. I need to see if there are installation logs that will give me something other than that pathetic installation failed box (separate question in software section) I really am flabbergasted by such a pi55 poor lack of information from m$

 do you ever stop moaning?

I read somewhere that you can upgrade from 7 (and Vista) to 8 for £25. In short, What are the advantages of Windows 8 over 7?

I definitely agree, Vista was the worst OS I ever used. 7 is far better.

No, but apparently I'm in good company, seems like hardly anyone can get it to work

Not followed it to closely so may have missed stuff.

But I think it is not relevant for most people, windows 8 is all about touch screen interfaces and the relevant interface changes to make that happen, and a few tweaks to things here and there, you probably won't see any real difference if you are not using a touch screen.

Laughs hysterically! What they really mean is for $40 (about £25) you can get an installation that either fails with a hugely inciteful "installation failed" message at best or at worst a screwed computer. Really I have never experience such a dreadful upgrade process it is truly awful!

Then simply take it back or dump it.
Not worth getting in a tizz over something thats so much trouble with so few benefits.
Life's not worth the hassle mate.
