I was always taught not to use too many plug in double sockets or plug in gangs for safety reasons.
Is the following ok?
Single socket with 13 amp fused 4 way extension with a TV, video, stereo, and a double doofer with a clock and phone charger. All on the upstairs ring main which is RCD protected?
Its been like this over the weekend and the RCD hasn't tripped yet.
Let me know - cheers

although it is true, they never invisaged so many appliances now days. it was aimed at those whio plug in an electric fire, then the iron etc.

What you have to consider is how much current each appliance draws, this should not be more than the capacity of the cable supplying the 4 gang lead you have, these are usually rated at 13 amps, most "appliances" draw less than an amp (except those used in a kitchen, toaster, kettle etc ) you will be ok so long as your maximum load never exceeds 13 amps.

With regard to your rcd, you are misunderstnding its function, for what an rcd does see this
