EU triggers legal action against UK.

once all the sabre rattling is over

All of the sabre rattling has been by Johnson and the Tory party.

The EU have been entirely consistent with what was set out in the Withdrawal Agreement and PD.

1. Integrity of Single Market to be protected
2. Equal access to fishing
3. Tariff free access to SM only if UK agrees to LPF, State aid and acceptable body for arbitration.

There is nothing unreasonable about any of that despite Brexiteers believing the EU are negotiating fairly.

Unfortunately there aren't people that are determined to make it a success.

None of the different groups wanting Brexit want it to be a success, that is not its intended purpose.

Brexit is a vehicle for making money by self interest, there is no interest in it being successful for the general public.
Unfortunately, your jaded and cynical view is blinding you to the fact that it's in everyone's interests for Brexit to be a success, one way or another.

nd perversely disappointed that your predictions of doom and gloom are proved wrong

They aren't predictions, since 2016:

Pound dropped 20%
Foreign Direct Investment has dropped 19%
£1 tr assets moved out of UK to EU
UK has lost AAA credit rating

And no prediction required for:
Huge increase of trade friction with UK largest trade partner.
UK will lose most of its trade agreements on 31st Dec and will be in a weak position to negotiate new ones.

Brexiteers never stop their gloom and doom over EU membership, in which the UK was doing fine.

These EU legal letters to member states are a common occurrence

Basically warning of potential legal action

Captains of industry like transam
Understand this caper ;)

No need for remoaners to get into a panic

Negotiations have not been halted by the EU ;)

the legal action, is not so much about the UK as the EU making an international stance.

it will take up to 2 years and wont stop the negotiations although it would have a bearing on the outcome.

bliar and co swung the doors open to the foreigners. The rest is history.

Thanks for the leave vote btw.

The EU losing its biggest customer.
The EU losing a big chunk of its fishing quota.
The EU’s biggest customer being able to make better independent trade deals (ie-Japan) than they have.
The EU losing a country who’s financial contributions are more than 14 (of the 27) other EU countries contributions combined.
Boris must be so worried, we are in such a weak position.
Muppets.

UK Japan deal means UK can get the balance of any tariff quotas not used by exports to EU......yup we get sloppy seconds, not exactly a better deal eh
Oh and Japan has insisted on tougher state aid rules than EU
Oh and Japan gets 80% of the benefit of the deal.

Not better deals, much worse.

Fish eh?
Who's cares, the entire fish industry is worth less than 10% of car manufacturing.

The old 14 smaller countries argument eh......good luck with that bit of meaningless info. You should be far more worried about the damage from leaving the SM.....esp as smart freight isn't ready

Don't forget plod needing to access the EU's database 1.5 million times a day for the 20,000 daily UK crimes.
