Quitters come in all colours...
It probably started here.
In 1975 The Labour party held a special conference regarding British membership, and they party voted 2 to1 for Britain to leave Europe.
Ah, so everyone just 'got on with it' after the accession referendum? That says nothing, Europhiles come in all colours.
In other words JohnD is simply making it up.
Ah, so everyone just 'got on with it' after the accession referendum?
There wasn't any anti-Europe campaigning until UKIP came along?
JohnDs tiresome 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years' is just ....
So do you deny that the tory party has been riven by the European argument for decades?JohnDs tiresome 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years' is just meaningless drivel.
And you think the lobbying/power argument is any different in Westminster? There is no doubt the EU has many advantages creating a common trading market and set standards.
However it has become a monopoly with unstoppable power and that means it can empire build as it wishes with no nation state having any real influence. It takes vast sums from lobbying so the biggest businesses yield the most power.
So do you deny that the tory party has been riven by the European argument for decades?
is just true.
And you think the lobbying/power argument is any different in Westminster?
If you do, then you are very naive
Over the years since the accession vote, then on balance it's a yes.Has the Tory party been riven by the European argument any more than labour?
Higher than the UK rate I assume? The lobbying power in the EU is higher:
Thus your criticism of JohnD as regards his comment 'quitters have been moaning for 40 years' is factually incorrect!
