Can anyone suggest at waterproof (will be in greenhouse not in the open) 12v DC power supply? I want it to supply a diaphragm pump. 3.5A startup, 2A running. Mains already present in the greenhouse.
Unknown, as the LED needs an average of 12 volt over a time, likely 15 seconds or there about maximum but likely works in millisecond between the pulses, they are known as either switch mode, or pulse width modulated which in real terms is the same. With a standard power supply there will be smoothing capacitors, but these don't have to be included in a LED power supply although likely they are. Since some state for powering LED's only one must assume there is something different, without putting on an oscilloscope we are just guessing.
Most of the brick power supplies are epoxy filled to remove the heat, so likely they will work OK. However there is nothing to say this on the outside, so it is again a bit of guess work. However something like a bird house so it does not get direct drips will likely be good enough. As long as powered through a RCD then if it does get damp there should be no danger.
