We aren't talking about motor sport generally - just one isolated incident that video footage proves was of little danger to the driver - but very spectacular.

You guys have got to get it into your heads that spectacular doesn't mean dangerous.

No no no, they're just professional racing drivers, what do they know? He was in absolutely no danger in his 190mph crash, obviously.

Then why did he get injured riding a push-bike (not at 190mph)? As long as he didn't hit anything he was safe. So being as there was nothing to hit - he was never in danger was he?

Why bother? His injuries PROVE his life was in danger - whereas sat in his carbon fibre tub - he never was. Back in the 70s he wouldn't have stood a chance.
