Here is Jeremy Clarkson: "Land is a better investment than any bank can offer. The government doesn't get any of my money when I die"
So perhaps the answer is to come up with something that distinguishes between investment/tax avoidance and geniune farmingbut the Agricultural property relief has encouraged investors to buy farmland..................IE it has been open to corporate vultures

You didn't watch it then?Jeremy Clarkson gets owned
Farmers have to live off credit, your average john deere is well over 100kThe word “seems” is doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Pathetic strawman. You didn't watch it then?
"Hands up who isn't affected?" makes the farmers point very well.
Not a bad idea, suggest tax relief if the absentee owners pass the land to local contractors who have been doing the work, people like caleb and gerald. Local people get a chance to own and farm.So perhaps the answer is to come up with something that distinguishes between investment/tax avoidance and geniune farming

Why are they protested then?Pathetic strawman.
You’ve no evidence that they will be affected.
Why weren’t they all protesting before 1984 huh

No I have provided information based on a family farm of 350 acres. For tax purposes I assumed the farm was owned by a married couple and that the land acheived avg. price per acre. I have also assumed their income is close to high performing farms rather than the avg. I have shown how they could be saddled with half a million in tax and no ability to pay from profits. I could easily show a single parent owning a lower performing farm being unable to pay the tax ever. It would drive them to sell or go bust trying.Top 10 British “family farmers” and how much tax exempt agricultural land they own.
