Farmers on the march

Biking from the boatyard was postulating a business asset that produces less than 1% profit.

That's not much of a business, it it?
poor JohnD still doesn't understand farming. Unlike you, I did some research.

this will tell you how much a farm is worth per acre
this will tell you how little they make per acre

Maybe they should all sell up and become stock brokers.

Yes, you have.
which makes my model more optimistic (higher income)

You and JohnD are welcome to crunch the numbers, lets see you do the maths for:

Unmarried/single parent passing their 200 acre farm to their descendants
Maried parent passing their 350 acre farm to their descendants

Hint: there are 2.47105 acres to a hectare

Top 10 British “family farmers” and how much tax exempt agricultural land they own.

1 Duke of Buccleuch 268,618 acres.
2 Duke of Westminster 125,311 acres
3 Duke of Atholl 124,163 acres
4 Duke of Northumberland 120,514 acres
5 Duke of Beaufort 53,691 acres
6 Duke of Argyll 51,309 acres
7 Duke of Devonshire 50,948 acres
8 Duke of Roxburghe 44,376 acres
9 Duke of Marlborough 24,725 acres
10 Duke of Norfolk 19,793 acres

Just a typical average family farm says Motorbiking

Blows a fegging big hole in Ellal's "support the farmers" and "vive la republique" rantings yesterday :ROFLMAO:

In my scenario they have invested wisely so IHT is a non issue.
maybe they were as good at running a business as you and as wise as investor as you are.

So good they ended up an employee and with an income that doesn't require them to do a tax return.

Not what I would call success.

Which makes my point for me.

Depending on if the current owner is married or not.
Anyone with about 40 Ha up (single), or 100 Ha for a married couple.
