I think 18 years is good going for a rubber membrane!

for such a smart guy you should know how to fit a external vessel!

Just to close this off, external expansion vessel fitted today, managed to tee into return pipe. Pressure is now staying within normal levels between 1 and 1.5 bar.

It was a hell of a job fitting the compression fittings to the old lead pipe. (Dont panic, I'm only kidding!)
