I've used them a few times, they are filled with neon gas and the glass envelopes are clear so they glow bright red/orange. There are also holes in the top which allow you to use another starter as a tool to aid removal of the old one. I like them a lot, seems to be less flicking on and off at switch on too.

Well glad it worked, possibly because his old fsu starter was actually faulty.
Indeed it does,, thats news to me most like the old S2 and FS2 usually state single 4-22w 110-130 volt only, phillips green eco S2 seems to be the exception

I suspected that too, although he had tried another. I think maybe both starters were used and a bit tired.
