For religious types

As a total non believer, I can just add that if someone wants to believe in a 'God', then that is up to them. My way of thinking is that religion is for someone that can't think for themselves and need an excuse to look beyond the real world.
Organised religions are indeed for mindless sheep who need someone to tell them what they should think, instead of working it out for themselves.

All this thing about "going to heaven" seems to be a complete mockery too. To make the grade you have to behave yourself, so one really has to question one's motives - altruistic (in which case you really don't need a "religion") or selfish (in which case you're damned anyway)

I was merely suggesting they could all at least have a glass of wine and 'nibbles' after a hard praying sesh. :D

Well, it's no big secret what my soapbox fetish is  . At least nobody has brought up Catholicism or the curious history of the current Pope

A rather sweeping statement ......
and glad to see that you removed your earlier post which in the light of B&B's polite replies was rather obnoxious

I'm an altruistic selfish person and I'll be damned if I'm changing my mind :D
Religion, in my opinion, causes more trouble than any other thing on this planet.

It's the fundamental basis of my religion, and so therefore must be right
Edit - I've just been checking my copy of Shadow the Sheepdog and most of the words in that "sweeping statement" are in there, and anything else was found in a later review of a review of a review ofthe story, so it must be fact too. That's how religious arguments and "proofs" work, isn't it? :?

indeed, it was out of order and pretty poor . At least I removed it myself rather than someone having to do it for me :| Although, to be fair, the morality of those so fixated on abusing females both on earth and beyond in the name of some religious creed is IMO far more disgusting and obnoxious.

i can only water a garden its god that gives the increase
At some stage it would be nice if you could speak using your own words and thoughts rather than making reference to other sources and using some kind of quasi "parable language".

Well, your God didn't make my Tomatoes grow big and strong, it was Tomorite :D
Sorry to be flippant, but, in all honesty, you are welcome to your beliefs.
Personally, it's all carp. Religion to me is the root of all evil. Like Lambs to the slaughter - follow me and I'll set you free.

OK, I followed the link and read the text and guess what. God's greatest gift to homo sapiens, which is sexual love, does not even get a mention!   So, not content with breaking the two apart and reducing sex to a means of procreation, Christianity proceeds to sideline love in favour of the totally artificial institution of marriage - for which it writes the rules.

Well that's it then. Laptop or no laptop, I'm not going either.

Well that post lasted all of ten minutes.
As we all know, onanism is considered to be sinful in many religions, and it seems to be a sin on here to refer to it at all  Although there is a temptation to suggest that extreme religious fanatics are indeed hefty practisers of the art, I suspect that susie would give me considerable gyp. So I'll refrain
