Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn

What next? Take history off the education curriculum?
That means a lot of teachers, archaeologists, and of course historians will find themselves out of work.
Oh and the worst case of all, we won't be able to learn from our mistakes because they too will be history!

God give me strength! Or rather, patience and some sort of understanding FFS!
Spot on Conny.

That's a word exclusive to one race sorry you cant use it its exclusive dont you know the history they have????. Hmm do other races have such a word. No. Strange.

appeal to extremes

OK. Where is it going to end? Statues and monuments, film, TV, music, town and street names, landmark buildings...…….. I'm sure they haven't even scratched the surface of what they want.

When I lived in Cape Town in the early eighties, they had an annual event called the Coon Carnival. Nobody complained about it and it was celebrated in all the papers. A bit like our Notting Hill carnival from what I remember.

I like the analysis at the end by the writer, for a change I agree with something the BBC has said.

I haven't seen the film since I was a kid but reading the article one of the aspects that seems to be winding people up is this:

Based on the novel by Margaret Mitchell, it features slave characters who seem contented with their lot and who remain loyal to their former owners after slavery's abolition.

There's a suggestion there that not all slave owners were cruel, so much so that when the slaves were given their freedom after abolition, they chose to carry on working for the family as free men and women. I can see why that might stick in a few peoples throats, it doesn't fit the usual narrative.

I'm relieved now that I managed to pick up a copy of 'In the heat of the night' last year, an all time classic film, thought provoking, and shows how far we've advanced.

Well given the fact that what we learn from history is that we don't learn from history, then what's the loss?

strawman because:

a minority of slave owners treated them well
and
slaves were still treated as a lower class.

What do you mean it doesnt fit the usual narrative? -you arent making sense
