One solid timber(s) shaped? Doweled to timbers that extend.

Time it will take to cut everything and glue might work out same time to shape the solid/laminated bit your after.

I've not really considered options like this, as the design really needs to be single sections of timber (Walnut or Sapele) meeting at the corners, with no other joints visible on the faces.
