I have a garage that is not attached to the house and is about 7 metres from the house. The garage has no electrics and so I wanted to just have a couple of led strip lights in there. I was thinking of using an outdoor switched fused spur and running some armoured cable. Not sure what I need at the garage end to terminate the armoured cable. Can I please have some advice on the parts I need to purchase to do all this. Will be running it off the house extension ring main, consumer unit has a main rcd switch and Individual mcb's.

Think if you will ever want a car charger out there or on side of garage
If yes, use thick cable. Eg 6mm swa.

You will want metal boxes at each end of the cable.

Try and run the swa into the house.
And in a route you could run it to the CU or meter in future

You will want a dual pole isolator at the house end. Eg a 20A or 45A switch.

Andy, so terminate the swa in the metal boxes but run the swa internal 3 cores through the box and house outer wall to isolator?

Murdochcat, I only want 2 led lights, no sockets at all. Just so I can see In there at night.

I only need the lights as my plumber son now puts his tools in there at night and can't see properly.

In the house, we keep the batteries In the house as the cold does them no good, so he always charges them In there.

SFK, I can see your point but I would prefer not to have to charge them. Murdochcat I think having one socket may be a good idea after all, having slept on it.

Trajan, my plumber son has an sds and set of drills, the house is brick with cavity and the garage single skin brick.

Have you got or can you get an old car battery. If so consider this combination, I use it in a similar situation and it's a lot easier and cheaper than installing a supply. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_...m570.l1313&_nkw=12v+led+strip+lights&_sacat=0
