I apologise for probably going over the same topic again, and believe me when i say i have been searching through numerous previous threads. some are quite similar but none have been exact to what i want.

but i am a complete novice and am trying to save getting an electrician in if i dont need to.

so dont be too sarcastic with your replies but anyway here goes.

i have a electric supply to garage with a double socket and lights. it runs of its own separate fuse in the mains box.

i want to to connect to this and run it about 7 metres to a shed. preferably above ground because i have newly laid a lawn and would be extremely pi$$ed if i have to dig into it.

i would like at lease one socket for the shed and then three sockets to be used for a light and fans.

please, someone in very simple terms tell a novice
A should i get an electrician in and save a visit to a and e
or b if i can do it what do i need to buy and roughly how much should it set me back.

cheers, sorry for going on, too many stellas.

The problem you'll have with doing the work, which I expect is physically within your capability, is that you don't know enough about electricity, and wiring, and safety provisions, and the regulations, to do the job safely.

You could learn, but there is a lot for you to know.

You could gain the knowledge here, and by reading, but it will take a while and be quite involved.

A lot depends on whether or not you have any kind of practical and/or scientific and/or numerate background.

The second thing to determine is the rating of that fuse/breaker.

The first thing to determine is the rating of whatever you'll be running in the shed.

preferably above ground because i have newly laid a lawn and would be extremely p**sed if i have to dig into it.
It would be cheaper overall to bury the cable, and less unsightly.

That's already up to 52 Amps, as a maximum, so you need to determine out the power rating of all the things you'll have switched on at the same time.

Yes.

It isn't possible at this stage to tell you what to buy. Nobody will be very interested in predicting the cost of buying it.
