The other thread on heat pump cylinders led me to this Heat Geek video, where Mr Heat Geek seems to be having a pretty major dig at the Mixergy cylinder's suitability for heat pumps. I don't pretend to understand it all. I know that Heat Geek have recently launched their own range of heat pump cylinders. Is he claiming in this video that his cylinder is 400% more efficient than Mixergy when used with a heat pump?

I don't think he's accredited by or affiliated with any manufacturer or trade body. Just a YouTube self-appointed know-all.

I've heard him say a few things that are the exact opposite of what everyone else says.

He's got the gift of the gab though, classic salesman type.

Watch for entertainment purposes, don't blindly accept a word of it.

I think I have finally got to the bottom of what he is saying. I don't believe he is claiming that his cylinder is 400% more efficient in general usage with a heat pump. He seems to be talking about a rather rare situation, where somebody might heat their cylinder to a super high temperature, for use as a kind of thermal store. In that situation, I believe he is saying that when adding those extra 15 degrees, from 55C to 70C, his cylinder is 400% more efficient than a Mixergy. Sometimes he just goes too quickly for me, so I still don't fully get his reasoning.

If this is correct, I would say title of the video is a little bit click-baity!
