Some people post on these boards expecting a short reply to something the've asked and are amazed when the replies run into several pages and they inadvertently start a huge debate over what they originally thought was an innocuos question.

Others may want to post but still hold a deep seated fear from schooldays of being ridiculed. You have to learn that as Noseall said, we are anonymous, (well most of us don't know each other outside this forum), and so we are free to say/ask what we want and if any jibes are printed we have the option to ignore that 'person'. Nothing is personal here, it is just words on a screen. Unfortunately some people do get rather agitated when someone disagrees with them.

Have got to agree with this 100%.
If I was a mod those threads would be history or at the very least moved somewhere else like the painters forum.

I don't think it is so much looking for excitement or exciting posts, more to do with posts that are more interesting than the ones perpetually circulating.

There comes a time when a post has run its course and deserves to be locked. A bit like a lame horse really.

The more discerning poster would look at the post list, see the never ending blarney and cringe.

I am astonished that people are still contributing to them. I glaze over immediately.
