Good riddance tobacco!

You're not reading my post, How do I get in my pub with the smokers in the doorway, not my choice? And in the winter they are smoking in the double door area like a porch because it's cold outside

Well ,, Blame the government for this state of affairs... In fact blame the last Labour government for this. Crafty buggers introduced it in the middle of summer time, so less people would complain, (until winter came).
I remember some blonde bimbo coming into a pub,(the very day the smoking ban was introduced) remarking that it was "disgusting",, all these smokers standing outside the pub..... I asked her what it was like the week before? And did she complain then about people smoking in the pub ?

Perhaps you're too young to remember the days when the smokers had it their own way.

You couldn't travel to work by train, or spend an evening in a pub, or work in most offices, without coming home with your clothes, hair and skin stinking of the vile stuff.

If you were unlucky enough to have a chest complaint or be athsmatic, you might never have a day without coughing.

Restaurants and canteens were filled with smoke. Having a no-smoking zone in a restaurant is like having a no-peeing zone in a swimming pool.

Rude and selfish, huh?

So do we legalise Heroin and Crystal Meth? It's all down to personal choice isn't it? Not up to the nanny state to tell us what to do. Let's legalise pedophilia as well.

Try reading the post properly before you chip in with the sarcastic comments.

I said soft drugs, which of course any sane person knows doesn't include heroin or crystal meth.[/i]

Or tobacco as it kills more people than all the legal, illegal, soft and hard drugs combined. Over 100,000 deaths per year in the UK alone. How soft is that?

What are you going on about? I said in my original post that i've always found it funny that tobacco is legal even though its far more dangerous than some illegal drugs. Cannabis and magic mushrooms for instance, the death rate for those each year is practically zero.

so is alcohol, lets all die of total boredom

don't understand that

are you suggesting that boredom is a major cause of premature death, or are you referring to those unfortunate people whose lives have no meaning or value without alcohol, or tobacco, or illicit drugs?

You're missing the point she's making (don't know what blonde bimbo got to do with it  ) my local pub have put in a nice large shelter with heat lamp switch on auto via pir to make the smokers comfortable during the summer and winter, guess what they can't be bothered to use the shelters and this is the problem I have with the smokers, we help them but some of them are only interested in themselves

I think it's all down to personal choice. Personal choices are being taken away from us, by others, who should be advising us, not dictating to us.
Personal choice is slowly being eroded in this country, by a dictatorial government. Think it will change by voting in the other lot? Nah, they are all as bad as one another. Governments may change over the years, but they still treat the electorate like naughty children. No longer do they advise us on lifestyle choices, but take those choices away from us. Won't be too many years until we're living in a dictatorship.

 nor do I, doesn't make any sense does it. Must of had a sherbert or two judging by the time!!

cannabis and shrooms are major causes of mental health problems..............tobacco is not....

Cannabis and mushrooms of the psychedelic variety are minor even insignificant causes of mental health problems. In fact a major study published only a few days ago found no significant impact on iq for cannabis smokers who started aged over 18 even after many years of puffing on the stuff.

Do strange people smoke the weed or does smoking it make you strange?

As for tobacco. It kills and maims on a massive scale. The mental health impact dying 30 years too soon, or not being able to walk up stairs for the final 30 years of your life is massive. Plus mental illness of those who have to watch their close ones die early. Often a messy and uncomfortable drawn out death.

A nasty nasty substance is tobacco.

Heroin. LSD, cocaine etc. were all legal once. Are you saying that they should all be legalised once more? No? Well what exactly ARE you saying?

Whilst the economic benefits will weigh in favour of a non smoking nation by only £1.64 billion (revenue of tobacco £12.1b v's cost to society £13.74b)

This statistic has been proved to be nonsense multiple times.

But anti smokers are going to believe what they want to be true regardless.

--

But for those new to this....

About 6 billion of that 13 billion is "lost productivity", that's people getting sick or dying, and so no longer paying tax (the fact they will also no longer be drawing a pension, or costing money for old age care (A much bigger financial drain) is completely ignored in this cost analysis).

Nice to know that dying is considered a cost to the state, personally I think dying should be banned.

Another 2.5 billion or so was from fag breaks.

The NHS itself put's the cost to treatment at around 3 billion, and other actual costs are further 400 million or so from cleaning up litter, and another few hundred million from fire damage (which any idiot can tell you is paid for by insurance companies/owner, not the government).

You want to argue against it on health grounds, sure go ahead, but financially you are onto a looser, and as to banning it, just remember America tried prohibition, I am sure there are many people that would just love you to ban it!

How do I get in my pub with the smokers in the doorway, not my choice?

There is absolutely no way that even if you walked in/out the door 10 times, that just passing them would present a health risk.

You basically don't like it, because it annoys you.

That's fine, and I encourage you to seek it being banned for that reason.

As long as you don't mind me seeking to ban things you do, cus they annoy me.

Doesn't it all stem from the 1st cigarette leading onto harder stuff then drugs etc? I would've thought a lot of them are normal smokers before taking cannabis?
